I'm also a member of a CBR600RR/1000RR forum. There are a lot of people on that forum using CBR500R mirrors. They are very happy with them. Seems like our stock mirrors are pretty good. That's why I've never even considered switching from stock.

i have the SW MOTECH mirror base extension plates. they help a little in letting me see past my elbows.

 

I have adjusted mine down and I get a very good view under my elbows.

40mm center to center. The stock mirrors are pretty good though.

I use mirrors from a cbr600fi (I think). I dig the stock ones but they stick out a bit too far for my lane splitting comfort. the mirrors from the 600 gives me the view and has the right length to keep me from clipping car mirrors like I was doing on my stock ones.

oh yeah I did appreciate the stock mirrors again when I dropped my bike in the garage and broke the right side 600fi mirrors (which I promptly ordered a replacement). if only they were made a bit shorter.

 

The 600RR and 1000RR mirrors are shorter. The 1000RR integrated blinkers are cool but too short for me.
