2014 CB500F 37K miles. Tonight my engine died approaching a traffic light. Side stand down is good to go and cranks. Side stand up engine dies when put into gear. Anyone figured out how to bypass this switch? Or an easy repair?

Well that makes no sense.
Down is no crank and up is good to go.
Get some WD40 and make sure that the switch isnt sticky!!

Cleaned out the switch area after disassembly at the kick stand. No good. Maybe it's clutch switch related... have to check into that. I have a new side stand safety switch ready to order if that doesn't pan out. I am no mechanic.

I just ordered a new switch. Tired of dinking with it. Hope this fixes the issue. Pushing a 500 for 1.5 miles was no fun.

Update: Turned out to be a broken wire in the counter sprocket area. Somehow the wiring harness got pinched during a sprocket chain change out. Eventually it was mangled and the wire taking the pressure let go. Did a bypass and tested it. All good again.
