Anyone know the part number for a genuine HONDA oil filter for these CBR500 bikes?
I was at the dealer today, and the parts guy said it wasn't even in his system yet.

Yep agree - was going to change it this weekend at 350 miles but went for a ride instead :)..

I sat with the dealer I brought the oil filter from and he had an identical part number page as you posted. (I initially questioned it and he just wanted to show me).

Hello to all

Today i replaced the oil filter of my Honda cb500f, the part number i used is:
H15410-MCJ-505

The dealer told me that it's fully interchangeable
I've done a little run of 80km and i confirm there were not leaks, so i think it proves that its seals well too.

so this part number can be used if the other one its not available

regards
Daniel

Daniel,
Thanks Daniel :)
I am looking to buy the right Torque wrench. What size is this filter, and what did you use as far as Torque?

The manual specifies: 19 lbf.ft (26 N.m, 2.7kgf.m)

Sorry for my late reply, what i done is i just tighten it by hand, as i usually do with my car oil filter, then i just give it a small ride to get the bike in the normal working temperature and tighten it again with my hand ,It turn again just a bit(beware the exhaust). I'm sure there is the right tool but i didn't had time to search for it. Now my CB500F have 1800km and still no leaks with this filter. i also checked the valve clearance and after adjusting 4 inlet valves the bike runs MUCH better

I was so frustrated today. Everywhere I called to have an oil change done, have appointments out for "TWO WEEKS". My bike is a bit past 400 miles, but I ride alot so by the time they are able to service my bike, I will easily be around 8-900 miles, if not more. The info in this thread is very helpful, plus I just called a friend of mine who rides a CBR1000RR, and he is going to show me how to do the change myself. I was concerned with the filters being compatable.

T0ad has an excellent write up, here on the forum, for how to do an oil change on these bikes.

Ive just cobbled together a youtube video on an oil change, if that helps as well.
