I should have looked before I leaped. I called GIVI and they said this will indeed fit the 500 X. Good deal.
I sure can't find it on there their site still??
So they're saying the one from the R and F will fit the X as well? Their website doesn't show that, but I suppose it's possible.

Look into these - the Lock-It side carrier, the rear Alurack, and any of the Hepco & Becker side and top cases. H&B is well-respected, and these are reasonably priced - plus you can choose from a wide range of cases, from adventure-type to touring.

Before I called GIVI, I e mailed them with my same question. I just checked my e mail, and they said only the V35 will fit. The guy on the phone said different. I asked them to talk with the GIVI rep I spoke to and gave them his name, and give me the final answer. I suspect my dreams are not to come true. Sure like the top load feature. Rats!

If you're talking about any PLX or PLXR rack, then they're only compatible with the V35s.

PL and PLR racks work with the other cases.

Ok, to my delight I received good news reply to my e mail from GIVI . They confirmed that part number PL1121 will fit my future bike and the E21 will attach to it as Gary I spoke to on the phone said. If they included this information on their web site it might increase their sales. But as Ronald Reagan once said of the Soviets, "trust but varify". I will have the Honda shop check again before they order it when I purchase the bike for when they install. What type of material would you suggest the Corbin seat made from? I thought leather but was told it might not be the best choice for all weather. I don't know all the options they offer at this time. I have not contacted Corbin yet for their advice yet, but will do soon. I don't know how you feel about the Corbin seat, but it looks plush and looks like the best cosmetic improvement that I can think of plus it has the appearance of comfort.

If the bike is always left out uncovered, in the sun, heat, rain, and snow, and you can never find the time to do a weekly application of leather conditioner, get vinyl.

I know a rider who just sent his 20-year-old Corbin in to be recovered; the original leather has finally cracked and split.

I don't know many riders who keep their bikes long enough for the leather to have problems.

I buy seats for comfort, not cosmetic improvement. The Corbin I recently installed on my F is a definite improvement over the comfort of the original seat.

The design and finish of the seat pan on the Corbin is far inferior to that of the seat pan on Sargent seats, but the important thing is that it doesn't fall off the bike, and I don't think it will.

The reason I prefer the Hepco & Becker setup over the Givis is that once the racks are installed on the bike, they can be quickly removed, leaving only some fairly small mounting points still attached to the bike. I know some Givi racks have the same feature, but I don't remember which ones.

One of my gripes about the Givi setup on my F800ST was how unattractive the mounting racks were when the cases were removed. If you never remove the cases, it's not an issue.

I find all boxes, panniers and cases plain ugly. The single ones sticking way out high in the rear look stupid and if full affect the handling, not to mention they stress the subframe. The ones on both sides make a bike look like a pregnant cow and you have to be careful not to knock over pedestrians on the sidewalk. :)
I've never understood why people would need these huge suitcases when they travel.
What's in there? Can't all be clothes, they would last for a month.
Okay, if you travel two up and have to accommodate your wife's beauty utensils, hair curlers, hair dryer and an ironing board, you need big boxes, but if you're traveling by yourself all you need is some underwear, socks and T-shirts for a week. There are laundry mats all over the place, I rather hang out there for an hour or two than drag those heavy boxes around with me and look like a U-haul truck on two wheels.
I've traveled for weeks that way, all I need is some change of clothes, a razor and a toothbrush. I had a rack welded up and tie a small box with bungee cords right behind me so the weight is distributed better and there's less drag.
Check out the pics how my bike looks with the box on.

Here's a video that shows what may happen when you turn your bike into a station wagon and forget that it's now as wide as a car:

I haven't had a car for years and do all my shopping with one of my bikes. Guess that makes me a serious rider, too.
Groceries go under the seat of my Nouvo 135, it's amazing how much you can fit.
When the seat is down, nobody can get to it. It also has a hook to hang bags between my knees.
No matter if I have a 250, a 500 or a 750, I'll always keep this economic and practical scoot.
If I'm on the CRF I carry a back pack; the rack and box is only on the bike when I travel.
Talking about beauty contests, the Cb500 is not a bad-looking bike, but boxes sure make any bike look ugly.

Well I would agree, the size of hanging luggage can be large and I don't see making a long trip that may require that much storage. The E21 don't stick out that far and I use my bike for basic commuting, errands and shopping. The top load feature I like as I can drop groceries in, and go. With my current F bike with the T-Bag on the rear seat, I can get about one bag of groceries in it. Not enough room if you throw in some rain pants also. Years past I have come up with my own configurations, that included a plastic milk crate tied onto a rear rack. I guess it all works for your particular situation, but I have become a fan of simple and easy. A lockable, easy access, and removal snap off small cases seems the way to go for me. Ask me in a couple of years from now and my direction may change. I like your opinions, as they are good.

500x sidecase decision

decided on sw motech evo racks and givi e22 boxes. Only things that interfered were the round, red, reflectors pointing left and right off the end of the license plate hanger. I drilled new holes in that bracket since it could be easily replaced if I completely botched that part.

National Cycle has a lowering kit with a lower kickstand. I was thinking about it myself but now I'm used to the seat height. I was thinking of just lowering the front end and setting the rear shock in the lowest position also.

Thanks for all the ideas. I do like the classic style bikes. Thats why I went for the Suzuki TU 250. It reminded me of the first bike I had when I was 18 years old, a SLR175 Honda. Years later I bought a classic 1974 250 that I had restored. What a beauty.I like traditional looks of those style bikes. I read about the 400 Yamaha, but I want a water cooled engine. In the summer I have have to negotiate two stop lights to get on the freeway after work. Those two lights can take 20-30 minutes to reach the freeway. An air cooled engine just cooks under me in 80 plus degree weather when it does not move. The 500 is what I am looking for in a bike. Lighter weight, good mpg and at a fair price. I find it hard to find a bike to meet those standards in today's world. Not sure what direction I could have gone if Honda didn't come back with the 500 series. The thought bigger the better, which means higher profit margins for the manufactures. I like the F, but the X might be the icing on the cake. It is just a hassle to modify, kick stand, lowering kit, what type of bracket to keep bags in place etc. Sure wish Honda would come up with side cases that don't break the bank as they offer now. It seems with their buying power they could offer them cheaper, sell more, and end up making more money so people don't have to chase after market products.
Mr. Sonder- I hope that I am still alive, not to mention still riding at 72. Hats off to you.
Hey Mr. 72 ,
I am a young 68¾ , looking into the new 2023 CB 500x it seems like the right bike for me , my friend that works a Honda Shop keeps trying a DRZ400SM on me or a Rebel 500 , ( which HAS to be the ugliest bike I have ever seen) .
But claims I would be bored on the CB.....same motor ...uh DUH....and really top speed fore is like 55-60 short term.....HELP

Ride’m both and decide! You don’t mention your experience level, so the best advice I can give you is get whatever one “moves you” … and puts a big greasy smile on your face when you ride it! I’m the second owner of a 2016 CB500XA, I‘ve owned many motorcycles and this four hundred seventy cc something twin cylinder little beauty won’t disappoint and keep you humble. There many accessories available both OEM and aftermarket to really help you personalize your riding experience. Best of luck with your selection!
