Hello,

So wife pick up a 2015 CBR 500RA a few months ago with 500 miles on it.. I had to go pick her up today bc she was having a hard time accelerating. The bikes shifts but lacks the fuel/ power. Feels like it starving for fuel but I check the tank and tested the fuel pump. There is no check engine light on or anything.. starting to look around more and saw that this plug was melted. I initially thought this was TPS sensors but after looking at replacements they don’t even look the same. Does anybody know what this is called? I’m not even sure if this is my problem but it gives me something to go off

(FYI the pic is on the right side of the bike) thanks in advance,

It's a coolant temp sensor. Ignition timing and fuelling depends on this sensor's data so with melted connector you won't have correct fuelling neither ignition advance. I would check why it's melted and replace it.

Thank for the reply @timur .. so electrical isn’t my thing I usually hand that off to other people even in home stuff lol.. I assume I need to go down the rabbit hole and check voltage of different parts…
Probably the issue comes from loose contact inside connector - I would clean it and check for tight fit of connector blades. This connector barely has current flowing through it so the melting should come from external sources. I'm sure it has an easy fix.

Agree with timur.
The mapping of the fuel, air and timing shifts based upon temperature. It mus have some connection otherwise the engine light would be on. If you have a buddy with a diag tester, you could plug it in and see what the engine temp is doing as you start from cold. It may flag another problem too.
