Brian, I kind of wonder if the lighter exhausts are due to them being hollowed out with very little noise attenuation. I have a Two Bros exhaust for my 2014 bike and it is truly lightweight compared to the OE exhaust. However, I grew tired of the noise (excessive) and re-fitted the OE exhaust a couple years ago. What an improvement!

Could you simply remove the cat converter from your factory exhaust? Any thing else you might do for weight reduction?

Its the converter that makes it heavy. Its also a bit ugly. I have a muffler being made for me in England, and I will post the results when I get it.
