Hi all,

Anyone know the part number or indeed if there is a K&N oil filter for the new CB500's.

I've called K&N U.K and they are not aware of it. It will hit the States first.

I'm sure there must be a filter that fits but K&N can't advise.

Stick with the OEM oil filters. K&N oil filters are not as good. They don't filter smaller particles well enough.

Hey marmite, Beside the OEM filter are there any other good aftermarket oil filters that are just as good or better for the CBR500?

Perhaps this is the link sought:
Motorcycle Oil Filter Comparison

I use the PureOne filters on my CB700SC, but I change more often to prevent the possible problems. Note that there have been warranty claim issues because PureOne are for cars, and the bypass pressure required is higher than motorcycles provide; once filter gets clogged, oil starvation occurs. Purolator recommends their ML filters, made for powersports engines. This is why I'm likely to stick with OEM, but Emgo is a pretty good alternative.

Cheers guys. Think will stick with the OEM for time being. Anyone know the part number as the dealer won't actually tell me. They want me to buy it from them directly. I'm sure it can be found online cheaper!

I don't have it in front of me, but I believe the Honda OEM filter is part number 15410-MFJ-D01.

I haven't changed my oil yet but I bet it is the same filter Honda uses on most of their sport bikes.

Nothing wrong with Honda OEM filters IMO

I buy them by the case online to get discount & save shipping.
But our team has 2 CBR600RR endurance bikes & I have a CBR1000RR sprint bike so I go thru a lot of filters
I change oil after every endurance race or 8 hours operation.
Only change filter every other oil change - but drain filter of dirty oil each oil change

Changing the oil is the cheapest maintanence you can do on your bike or car !
No matter how good or expensive your oil is, dirty oil is DIRTY OIL - change it ! :)

Can't Find the OEM filter 15410-MFJ-D01, is this what our bike has from factory? ..first service at 1000km done by dealership and hasn't got honda original oil filter.

I want a good oil filter, from a little search I can find this one in my country(Greece) - HONDA 15410-MCJ-505

What's the difference compared to 15410-MFJ-D01? is this better or worse?

P.S. Also I need a tool to unscrew/screw the oil filter from what I've seen hmm

EDIT: I've actually checked ALL honda's the only honda oil filter I can find in my country is the "HONDA 15410-MCJ-505"
