Honda has an OEM product and many other companies provide one. I've been happy with T-Rex parts so far:

However, (don't have a 500x, rather 500f), I would take a look if such a stand would lower the bottom end of the bike, might hit more obstacles when driving in the forests. If this is just for chain maintenance, you have other options such as wheel cleaning stands (Grand Pitstop Motorcycle wheel cleaning stand and others).

Good points to consider, thank you, it was to help keep the chain and wheels cleaner but don't want to get stuck on a log for the sake of making cleaning easier!
I appreciate your rapid response. (y):)

I got my OEM Honda certerstand for a bit over $100 USD a year ago. It works fine. I don't keep in on the bike all the time as it will not retract properly with an aftermarket exhaust such as I use.. I just put it on (without the spring) when I want to remove a wheel, etc. Since I don't bother with the spring I'm very careful not to bump the bike forward lest it roll of the stand.
