So I've paid to have an exhaust constructed by the guys over at Quill Exhausts and in their installation guide it says the following:
"We recommend the use of high temperature exhaust sealant around all joints when fitting the silencer. Also it is important to use a small amount of oil/grease to lubricate all stainless steel threads (i.e. copperslip)."

Anyone used this kind of stuff before? Not too sure that it's even necessary.

Depends on fit, I suppose. I've used Permatex high temp RTV gasket with good results on my Nighthawk S; the Yosh can was pretty wobbly on the pipe. The exhaust-specific clay stuff sucks; too brittle.

How are you getting on with the exhaust mike? Was it a slip on you bought or full exhaust?

It's a slip on, but it's still being built I'm afraid. The listing says it's around two weeks to make it, plus shipping overseas can take weeks. I've paid extra to have it made of carbon fibre, so it could take even longer.
I'll post sound clips and a review when I receive it.
