What is the 0-60, quarter mile, and top speed on the CBR500R / CBR500F/ and CBR500X

A review on the CBR500F said " five-second 0-60 and a 115 mph top"

I wouldn't expect speeds and top end to vary much between the models. So assuming the review at visor down is accurate you that is the ballpark speeds I would expect to see out of all the models.

5 seconds is not that bad. I mean compared to a supersport obviously it would blow the CBR500 out of the water. The new 2012 honda CBR600rr comes in at 3.2 seconds for the 0-60 and 161.56 mph top speed. But its nice to know what the cbr500 is capable of.

It actually said "an approximate 5 second 0-60", not "5 seconds". So it could be anything up to 5.5 seconds...

i do not know about this restriction thing.
I have seen 183-184 kmh on my speedo so maybe it is 180 kmh gps speed for restriction?

It's restricted to 180kmph i.e. 112 mph.
Would like to know how to derestrict it.
Where did you hear this Stu? I've read just about everything on the CBR500, and never read this anywhere.

I'm also not sure what deresticting a 180kph limiter would do (if there is one). This is a 170-180kph bike. Getting to 200kph ain't gunna happen without a factory workshop.

why would you even want to mess around with the limiter. How often really are you gonna go that fast. I'm not sure if you want to go 200kph, speeds like that are not forgiving especially on a bike.

Those who go off-road/track would need to go faster then 200kmh. But I don't see the CBR500 going that fast. It isn't a race bike.

I feel like the bike is 500cc. only a 100cc less than a 600cc bike and theyve been known to go well over 160mph.. I would assume and hope that the 500 does at least 140?

A 600cc super sports vs an A2 legal 500cc bike at 1/2 the cost. Not the same thing. It does/will do 100mph easily, and top out at about 115mph. More than enough.

The 54hp is an unverified rumour about a non-EU A2 license complient variant of the 500, for the US and AU markets. Fingers crossed, but I'm not holding my breath.

I have heard anywhere from 47 hp to 54. Either way, its more than a 250 but far behind a 600. Serves its purpose for the right consumer

Although its just a 100cc less than a Cbr600rr i wouldnt compare the two. The Cbr500 will serve its purpose for those who are looking for a slight upgrade from a starter bike like a cbr250. This is perfect for me since im not looking for a supersport or 600cc.

think it must have been in the MCN report maybe.
Anyway, I have had a test ride and it's academic. The bike only had enough power to reach 114 mph (indicated on the speedo) It reached 112 easy enough lying flat on the tank but I had to duck my head under the screen to reach 114.
I don't know if the engine would have more to give after it had been run in though as there were only 4 miles on the clock when I picked it up.

The CBR500 is a twin as well. 600 super bike is a 4 cylinder. It is a nice upgrade from a 250 but not a 600 super bike replacement.

Thanks Stu. What country are you located in?

So sounds like the reviews are right - reaches 100mph very easily.
