CB500F Touring Questions

I recently rode my 2024 CB500f over 2605 miles round trip from Portland to San Diego. I have taken it on a few mini solos before this past trip. I think it is all up to the rider, conditioning, as well as what the rider's goal is on their daily journey versus reality in knowing nothing goes as planned (so have contingencies). I understand if you are a tall or heavier in weight person for the size and weight of the motorcycle. You might have difficulty achieving or maintaining desired higher speeds. That being said, I am 62" and had no problem 1) riding on interstate/freeways, 2) achieving 70 mph in about 5 seconds, 3) no problems passing, and the list goes on. Now, maybe my experience is an anomaly, but I would suggest taking a three-day weekend with a tail bag. I use a 50-litre low-profile pillow tail bag that can pack up to 5 days of clothing, including weather gear. It can be done. However, consider whether you have the right mindset and have gone on a few short trips, packed out, and possibly during rainy or colder weather. No trip ever has perfect weather. My trip had two days of rain, over 90 degrees, and under 40 degrees on my way back. I'm proof it can be done. Good luck to all who don't believe in the naysayers!
