I've always used gentle engine breaking when coming down hills or coming up to slow traffic but on my new CB500X it always backfires a bit and I'm not breaking heavily. The owners manual says you shouldn't allow it to backfire as it will damage the catalytic converter. Should I be worried?
BTW, I don't try to make it backfire on purpose.
Certainly not as audible on earlier models. They changed the silencer in 2019 to twin outlet which made it more pronounced.
