I bought a used 2020 CBR500R @1,100 miles. I have 12,000 miles now. Upon deceleration, the exhaust can burble, pop and backfire. Usually in low RPM range. I can somewhat control this with throttle. Not the sewing machine sound I expected from Honda. I don't know what the prior owner might have done. I don't see any rebar holes. Thoughts?

Anyone have experience with any of the $100 exhaust systems out of China?

It's a deceleration fuel cut off - it's activated over 4000RPM. Once RPM falls below 4000 fuel is injected again and then pops and backfire starts. With OEM exhaust it's barely noticeable but with aftermarket systems it can be perceived clearly.

I love the sound & pop of my Coffman slip on.
I removed the baffle as well. The stock exhaust was way to quiet, and I needed to be seen & heard.

I am sure my neighbors are not happy when I come home at 0600-0700.🤣
But my louder exhaust has saved my ass a few times, when people start to come over.
Without checking their blindspots, or don't care.
