New Rider with a CBR500R

Hey everyone, I'm new to riding. I picked up my 2014 CBR500R in January, stuck it in the garage and started riding in March. I live in Connecticut. I got a bit overzealous and was riding as much as I could. In April I low sided in a corner on my way to work. Low speed, but it shook me up. No breaks but my knee got pretty torn up. The road rash is healed, and my bike is ok. I had to do some minor repairs, but the bike is fully operational now and ready to go. Last weekend I did my first ride since the accident. Small ride and did a few hours of drilling in a parking lot. Hoping for good weather this weekend so I can get more seat time. I love the bike, and I love riding, but I'm taking it slow.

Welcome.

Glad you overcame your low side accident.

You would benefit from the basic riders training course.
It provides a lot of information as well as parking lot practice.

Thanks, I took the MSF and I'm fully licensed. During the accident I had on boots, jacket, gloves, and helmet. Getting some riding jeans. Normal jeans didn't cut it.

I always wear riding jeans but the knee pad never seem to fit and I doubt that they will be in place when/if needed, so I ride without them.

I've been catching good sale prices on jeans from Revzilla... especially the Bull-it jeans.
