2019 CB500f pre purchase road test on a 2018 bike.

This is my opinion only. Having had in the region of 30 bikes in my career, I bought the cb500f today (candy orange) part ex cb650f 2015. I am going to give you it's merits accordingly. Looks like a 600 feels like a 125. Motorway cruising no problem at all. Overtaking in top gear capable but not ballistic. Drop it down a cog and it will pass with urgency. Very stable not affected by passing big vehicles. No twitchiness at all. Back road Twisties super flickable not intimidating at all but it get gets a lick on if you use the Rev range. In fact It will give you 600 feelings for a very short span in the revs. Brakes surprised me how good they we're. Bars suited me a treat. Seating position spot on especially with your bum touching the pillion seat. No sliding forward down the seat either. Final thoughts, think and it turns in, economical, so easy to ride, doesn't sound too much like a twin, minimal wind blast at motorway speeds, super duper slick gearbox, if the 2019 bike is better it must be good.

1st of March for the 19 plate. When I have put some miles on it I will try and do a comparison, not that I think you could better the old model much. We will see.

Follow on from 2018 cb500f road test for 2019 purchase comparison.

This is my opinion only. Apologise again for late reply, It took me ten months to get the hang of logging back in after forgetting pass word. So purchased 2019 cb500f and covered nearly 4,000 miles. Did 25 miles on the 2018 bike so not a fair comparison BUT, I still like the old model its ergonomics and tasty colours. In standard form I prefer the 2019 exhaust twin outlet and the extra rasp sound, and those large downpipes are to die for. Riding wise I feel the 18 bike was a tad sharper in the top end rev range. The 19 bike better lower down. Suspension maybe a bit more compliant. Slipper clutch /clutch effort without compromise. Gear shift just think and it changes gear. Speedo clocks display no problem to read In bright sunlight. Handling, ironically I find I can spend more time on the side of the tyre, its more gas it all the way round rather than point and squirt. The handling is superb. A little bouncy when pushing on, but I like that. If only I had another 5 or 7 hp. Well you will still have to road test one your self but I hope this helps. PS bear in mind in the space of 4 years I have gone from 130hp to 89 hp to 47 hp. PS gear indicator invaluable.

I test drove the CB300R 2019, the CB500F 2019, the CB650F 2018 and the CB650R 2019 and I liked the CB500F 2019 better than the rest. I use it only for commuting to work, excellent for driving between cars, great for street driving, super economic about 70 MPG, seat is only 30.9" high, perfect for my size (5'5", 140 lbs), very cheap on insurance, very easy to handle I"m super happy with my purchase, I put 2,000 miles since last July 2019. It use to take me about 1 1/2 hr. to get back home on my car, now it takes me about 30 min. going back home. Its amazing!
