Exclamation Honda UK Recall on the 2013 CBR500R, CB500X and CB500F

It says in the press that Honda USA and Australia have recalled some CB500s of all models because of the "recall: rocker arm shaft sealing bolt loose" well I checked my CB500XA here in the UK on the below website and mine has also been recalled.

According to our records there is some outstanding work to be carried out on the VIN you entered.

recall: rocker arm shaft sealing bolt loose
Please contact your local Authorised Honda dealer and arrange an appointment to have your car repaired.

I know other UK owners have checked and they are the same. I suggest you check your VIN on the website if you live in the UK. Mine is booked into the dealers on 22nd March for the work to be done

****! Thanks for posting that link - I didn't know it existed. I just checked my bike's VIN as well, and surprise surprise - same recall message. Mine's an F. Will book it in asap. I wonder how long it's been up there, and why I haven't received a letter or call about it?

Just called Honda (Chiswick) and the very helpful lady said mine is also part of the recall - I doubt any early models will be excluded really.

Booked in for this Friday afternoon..

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to wait for the letter but best get it sorted soonest I guess.

Yeah Honda UK are a bit slow with the letters maybe they are waiting to get enough stock in first.

Yeah Im the same, just checked mine and its in for a recall. Surely our dealers should be doing the leg work and telling us about this. I've just booked mine in for a service last week, surely they should have at least mentioned the possibility of it then! This has actually annoyed me quite alot. Slowly but surely Honda are starting to push me away from them. I've been eagerly awaiting the new 650's to come out, but theres sod all news from honda and all my dealer could tell me is that they were meant to be coming out in april, but its been pushed back a few months due to technical issues! Technical issues is not something I want to be hearing when thinking about buying a brand new bike

Oh, and one more thing. Do you guys think I should put the stock can back on when I take it in? I suppose they could technically say that that modification voids the warranty

Yep true... Chiswick said they need a couple of days to get the "part" in. Which is fair enough.

Lee - you can just call a Honda dealer. They should be able to check via the reg number. That's how they did mine but yep afraid I think it's part of the recall batch.

I wont be swapping back rear sets, can or anything, never have done in the past for recall work.
Always takes a long time to unless it was like a major safety recall in the press etc.

Thanks

Lee
