US Recalls the 2013 CBR500R, CB500X and CB500F

Per my dealer (I just dropped my CBR500R off today for the recall notice) there will be an OFFICIAL RELEASE of Recall Monday Feb 17th. My bike is 1st in line to get repair. Honda USA will be telling dealers how to fix all the ones coming in for repair and the ones in the STOP SALE order.

Recall does deal with the Rocker Arm Sealing Bolts.

To be continued.....

I asked the same thing. Dealer Service rep said he will wait and see what the official recall bulletin says.

In my opinion, the ones I have seen damaged looked like the hex bolts was over torqued and sheered off. I have tried to tighten mine and they are rock solid. So that is why I think "some" have been over torqued and sheered off. But what do I know? Heck some new bolts with blue locktite thread locker will fix these issues very easily!

Interesting. I wonder how this will go down with the northern tier of the U.S. still deep in winter and recall work won't realistically be performed until April or May.

It should still be the same. If it's a true recall, it's good for life, so I northern CBR owners will just have to get theirs serviced when the snow thaws out.

so its a easy job for the DIY guys or petrol heads. actually who done the valve clearance check may already solved this issue, because who have to remove these bolts to be able to install the new valve shims. just remove them, apply some loctite and torque it to spec.
the problem is if it's a good excuse for the dealer to manipulate your warranty if don't get the bike only to him

btw the manual states these instructions for the bolts

Apply engine oil to the threads of the plug bolt and install it with new sealing washer (not necessary if it is still new with low km) aligning the blade with the groove.

tighten the plug to the specified torque
TORQUE 15Nm (1.5kg m, 11 Ibf.ft)
