Hi all, new member here with 2016 Honda CBR500R

Hi my name is Tommy,

I just purchased a new Pearl White 2016 Honda CBR500R on 03/28/17 with 0 miles.
I use to ride a 1985 Honda Nighthawk S (CB700SC), but it threw a rod on me June 2016.
I'm really liking the CBR500R so far, it's a great bike!

So far I've put on a Puig Racing Windscreen - Dark Smoke, Targa Fender Eliminator Kit, Strada 7 Racing Short Folding Adjustable Levers & CNC Swingarm Spool Adapters, GPR Exhaust Slip-On Silencer Thunder Slash Racing Version, Tyga Carbon Fiber Rear Hugger & Instrument Surround, and Reflective Rim Stripes.
Still waiting for my Evotech-Performance Exhaust Hanger Blanking Plate Kit and R&G Radiator Guard & Down Pipe Grille.

I've read many forum posts and I'm also looking forward to getting more advice and opinions from you all.

Hi all, new member here with 2016 Honda CBR500R

Welcome!

That's a ton of stuff for a new bike, got any pics?

I'd recommend getting some Oggy Knobbs to protect your investment, they've just release the CBR500R version.

Hi 5HIFTY, Yeah! lots of new stuff for a new bike.. I'm actually waiting on Puig Pro Sliders already, forgot to mention that.

I was going to get an '07 CBR600RR, but got the CBR500R with money left over for new parts.

I can't post pics yet though, I'm too new to the forum apparently..

Hi mate, congrats on the bike!
That's a nice list of mods.
I'm surprised you chose a 500R over the 600RR?
Power difference is night and day.

Good choice, I take it this isn't your first bike? Only guessing as you've made some great decisions in aftermarket mods and obviously a great decision in choice of bike.

Where in the world are you?

I'm in Northern California.

Yeah my first bike was the 1985 Honda Nighthawk S (CB700).

It was a bit too much of a bike for me, too heavy and I went down once into a barbed wire fence on a mountain road with it before, but after I healed up I fixed it and kept riding for a couple more years on it until it threw a rod.

I feel that the 500R has enough power for me, I don't intend on tracking it or anything.

I'll probably pick up a new Daytona 675r in a couple of years though, hopefully they'll have a new version by then.

I think it's 10.

I'm from down under, Western Australia. I've only ever owned the 500R (mines a 2014) when it comes to road bikes, but I can't fault it. I keep up with mates on liter bikes when we're in the twisties.

Right? the 500R is really flickable, more so than my old CB700SC..

I do feel like it's not as roomy for me though, I'm still researching on getting different clipons and rearsets as I think that'll give me more room.
