Hi forum.
So this is my first post and its a sad one.
Picked up my 2013 CBR500R on Christmas '16 as a first bike and as a commuter to work in Manhattan. Got it registered and insured (only liability) but didn't get it inspected till today. Its Friday 13 (wasn't superstitious till now) and its warm so I decided to take it to work but didn't want to chance the ticket for no inspection so got to the dealer at 8am. Left the dealer at 8:05, turned the corner, got cut off and he stopped short. Natural instinct was to grab the front brake and the front wheel locked up. Bike tipped and slid for about 5 feet. I was only going 15 mph so I'm alright besides a few minor scrapes and bruises but the bike is not looking good. Front fairing, front cowel, and windscreen are pretty bad. I have a large crack next to the windscreen and the clutch pedal is bent.
So I guess part of the problem was my limited experience and part of it was the jerk on the road but definitely a discouraging event.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Ive seen the ebay chinese fairing sets and was thinking about that. But maybe its not worth getting the whole set? I'm trying to upload some photos but I'll take more when I get out there again.
Thanks
