How fast does this beauty go

So I got my red CBR500, this little lady is awesome.

A buddy of mine took it out and said she wouldnt go past 96mph. I thought top end on this was about 115 to 120. I read somewhere the ninja300 had a top end of 115mph. So I am confused :/

Maybe he didnt want to push her since we need to break in.

Maybe he was in 5th instead of 6th .. I've topped out 6th at 110 or so.

I've had mine up to about 108 and it still had some left to give before I ran out of road I was sure there wasnt a cop on. If I had to guess, I'd give it about 115. I weigh 180 pounds.

Where it starts to struggle, and I'm sure if SandMantis was here, he would be telling you, is that the bike is effectively limited by its relatively low rev ceiling. The engine output is different than the Ninja 300, which is a very speed favoring bike with almost no low end, compared to our bike which has monster amounts of torque down low which then flatten out and drop off pretty early. If our bike was set up the same way as the Ninja 300, and had the same 14k redline, I bet it would probably go about 140

I have hit 118-120 on mine personally...it was bouncing the rev limiter after about 110.
I happened to be heading down a hill by the time I was at 100, so that helped.

Just be careful if you're going to do this guys, speed wobbles are a real serious thing after 90mph...no one likes a nasty tank slapper. They happen way easier if you dont have a handlebar stabilizer installed. Check this vid out...remember if this happens, tighten your hold on the gas tank with legs, let off the gas, and lean slightly forward WITHOUT putting input into the bars.
