500X wind noise/buffeting discussion

I think i'm going to have to sell the bike. Does anyone else find the 'X' intolerably noisy behind its screen? I have a very quiet helmet (Shoei GT Air), but at any speed above about 70km/h i just can't bear the noise.

All though its good fun standing on the pegs going down the freeway, its not really a practical solution. But it is quiet, so the issue is the bike its self.

Im not sure a taller screen would help. I think as i'm fairly short (5'9) and i sit quite far forward on the bike that the problem is that my head is in the low pressure buffet behind the screen. i've considered actually chopping down the stock small screen.

Has anybody else had similar issue and either fixed it with a taller screen (or shorter) screen??
cheers, Jim.

Funny you mention it, i took my screen off just a couple days ago to see how it goes without, so peaceful!! More buffeting of course but like a different bike noise wise over 70kmh, all the wind turbulence roar gone, just glorious Shoei quiet.
Will chuck the taller screen on and try that, cant remember what the noise levels was like when it was last on. Def made a difference to the wind cause i swapped back to the standard screen for the hot weather as i wasn't getting any air into the helmet vents with the taller screen

Have you tried the screen in the other position?

I've been a tad concerned about this, myself, as various folks report different results.

I figured if the windscreen deflected the air at my head, I could remove the windscreen and brackets. I've always ridden naked bikes so that seemed like the most simple (and cheapest) solution.
