No reliability issues that I'm aware of on the 2016s (I've had zero problems with mine). As for the colour, choices will depend on your market.

White bikes ftw. the white really sparkles in the sun and the blue accents are nice as they match the anodised fork caps. Have not seen the red, and black bikes are so boring.

2016 CBR500R in white and blue- the best color

Parts aren't expensive, I'd get the tri-color and then install a black front fender and a black rear panel.

I like the white and blue but not the red.
