I also wonder about the tenders. I've had a battery last 9 years and it never had a charge put to it.

I use a tender. I have four bikes so I need to rotate.
During the summer I have those solar chargers to keep electrons flowing through them.
In a car with the battery in the engine compartment, the battery is in a very hostile hot/cold environment. In a bike, depending, not as much. But to leave it in the freezing cold being slowly discharged is not good.
Best to bring it in to a steady temperature.

The tender exercises the battery. Electron flow is good.

EDIT...I only have three bikes now. I forgot I just sold one. It's confusing :-)

Unfortunately, common sense is not that common.

keep it on the bike. it's needed for the HISS.
how long is your winter storage?

I once left my bike for 4 months without disconnecting the battery when I went to work in Saudi Arabia.

it fires up the first time when I started it.

Sounds good, thanks! My winter storage is going to be about 4 months or so, depending on weather. I'm either going to get it to my house in PA where I can keep it in the garage, or if it stays down in MD it'll live in the corner of living room.
