I got about a pinky width of chicken strip left on my bike. I've only been riding for just under 6 months and only on the streets.
I just cant get that last bit of chicken strip off my tire though. I'm wondering if knee dragging will make it easier.
Or do I have to take my bike to the canyon, I have mulholland nearby
It really is a case of small dick syndrome lol. Seeing it just bothers me even tho it's so small.
Also any tips on the front chicken strips? they seem to be slightly larger.
It won't increase penis size for sure, and about all I drag these days maybe my toes. Can't get to the knee at all. Can't even get to the feelers on the pegs.
I increased penis size when I tied a brick to it and hung the brick over the side of the bed at night.
No need to hit the canyons, the brick works for that condition.
The chicken strips, just take some sand paper to the edge, nobody will know you ain't been to the edge for real, because of a small man part syndrome.
If the chicken strips bother you that much, get a sanding block, spin the wheel and rub them down. You will have all the look with none of the crashy crashy, ouch trees hurt! while leaning further than you are capable stuff. All the look, none of the medical bills!
I've never dragged a knee in my 4 seasons and wouldn't know how to. You cannot learn to do that on the street, and anybody that thinks they're doing it will get berated by a professional witness for bad form and likely dangerous and unstable riding. There's one place to drag-knee and that's the race track. If you want proof go search YouTube for motorcycle crashes. There's no shortage of wannabees regretting the write off and injuries, and probably that many more deaths not recorded or not posted. Insert: And no, not all of them are newbies. Many of them have been "dragging knee" in some form or another for months or years. Many of them do have track days. Guess what, they still crashed! Many professional motorcycle racers won't even ride bikes on the street for one of two reasons: it's too dangerous or they know they'll get themselves in trouble in the uncontrolled environment (either crash or arrested).
If you feel inclined to learn that then sign up at the nearest track near you. If you want the 600 crowd to respect you on a 500R there's only one possible group that will: wear full gear and ride like an adult and the mature ones will respect you. The ones that don't respect that won't respect anything short of killing yourself to make a point. And those ones don't deserve your respect.
Dragging knee is useful on a race track and dangerous on the street. If your friends give you a bad time about chicken strips find different friends. The risks far outweigh the rewards.
Haha no way ima sand it or use a brick but that was some funny stuff. I use those strips to see my progress. No one makes fun of my strips, i mean they are pretty low to begin with but even if someone did i'd tell them to mind their own. It's like i said just something i use as a self measurement so i'm wondering if knee dragging helps. But yea i've heard it's not something to really be done on the streets. Maybe ill go to mulholland and watch some better skilled riders.
hanging off (the position used to drag a knee) actually reduces required lean angle for a given speed and radius, so knee dragging would not be necessary to ride all the way to the edge of the tire; it would actually let you use less lean angle to negotiate a corner (and use less of the rubber close to the edge). sport riders drag a knee to guage their lean angle and know how much lean angle they have available.
you've been riding 6 months? focus on shifting quickly (and smoothly), throttle blipping downshifts, emergency braking (using both front and rear without locking), and looking into turns and way ahead. lean angles will come later.
ooreelaxoo makes an excellent, overlooked point. The entire point of dragging a knee is getting the rider's weight fully off of the bike so that the bike can stay more upright. Aside from this requiring moving faster through the corner (likely 2x or more the speed limit in most places), I can't see this wearing down chicken strips any faster than just leaning the bike normally would. He's also right that you shouldn't be concerned with the chicken strips and shouldn't try to measure "progress" that way. It's a false indicator. If you're still alive and riding with a clean record and a solid bike in 10 years that will be a good indicator. Until then, just try to focus on the safety and having fun. Look where you want to go, and practice smooth operation and emergency maneuvers (in controlled environments). Sign up for more motorcycle courses if you can. Even after you've been riding for a few years you'll still find them challenging in ways.

well it stays more upright because shifting the majority of your weight to the inside of the bike and of the turn counteracts the centrifugal force (by shifting the overall center of gravity inside and down) allowing the bike to balance at a shallower lean angle during the curve. dragging a knee is not to take weight off the bike as this would cause traction issues on either or both of the tires' contact patches... a knee touching down is more like a gauge of lean angle than a way of propping up the bike. all of a rider's weight still stays on the bike but is just placed differently.
The rear sets are too low/forward to get to the edge of the tire. I have put knee down a few times at my track days and I concur with the members that is the only place to try such a thing, but you still won't get to the edge. See the general discussion pictures track day post and there is a picture of me with boot toe, peg and knee down all at the same time, that's as low as this bike will get. Go do a track day, you might be more chill on the street, and there is medical standing by just in case. I'm not worried about what someone thinks if they see a little strip left on my tires, it's not that kind of cycle. Honestly I don't think anyone cares that much and if they do, I don't care about them. Keep the shiny side up brother and good luck.
:laugh::laugh::laugh:I'm laughing so hard. Can't tell whether OP is serious or just being funny.
I've tried those headphones that stick out like the Vibes you posted, they'll come off when you put on your helmet. I'd suggest getting something that will be more flat against your head. Check out the Surefire Ep4. That's what I wear.
i don't need to. my chicken strips are nearly always wider than the next guy's.
doesn't bother me. might explain why i've been down only once in 225k miles/20+ years. worst injury in that mishap was my ego.
I offer this up. If you look at the racers such as Mike Hailwood during the 60's and 70's, they kept their legs tight to the sides of the bikes and they seem to be moving around the track quite swiftly.
Modern racebikes are more powerful and tires grip way more so maybe riding with a knee out helps but for us mere mortals on street bikes it's only necessary if you're looking to impress your friends.
And if you're trying to impress somebody, make sure you have the bike well leaned over. It's always sad to see somebody trying to get a knee down with the bike upright.
And another thing you need to do besides dragging knee is to throw your inside leg out beside the front wheel while braking before the corner entry, MotoGP style.
