Is it safe to say that Victory was a failure? (See what I did there?)

I thought Victory was doing good for them. Just that the Indian name a bit more nostalgic.

We have a very large Victory dealer nearby. I wonder what will happen to them.

Nothing will happen other then the name out front will turn to Indian.

Polaris purchased the Indian name and have badge half or more of the bikes the last few years with the Indian name. For some reason they have decided to use the Indian name and drop the Victory name all together. It's all own by Polaris and they have been very successful with all their ventures.

I think what happened they found out that the Indian name just sells much better then the Victory name.
Thump likes this.

Well, Indian has that old Americana value associated.

Are the Indian bikes and Victory bikes essentially the same underneath? If so, I guess I didn't realize it was all the same.

Well for example they have that Indian Scout, then a Victory version of that bike with some cosmetic changes, sort of like a Chevy truck compared to a GMC truck.

Not sure about any other models that crossed over like that, but they did do it with the Scout.

The Indian big twin line using engine group separate from Victory big twin engines.

I'm not sure what they plan on doing with the Victory line, since they are using totally different engines and what not.

I suspect they keep the Victory line and badge it all Indian.

The one thing strange about the change, they now own two big twin engines that are actually pretty darn good motors and very different from each other. WIN WIN maybe.

the Chevy-GMC compare makes complete sense in terms of mass production mfg. I'd expect that.

Maybe this is more of a consolidation move and will serve to enhance the surviving product line up.

Polaris has been flogging Victory for about 17 years. After just 3 years, Indian is apparently outselling it.
