Quarter Mile times (1/4)

So does anybody have some 1/4 Times on the CBR500R? I read somewhere in a magazine it did a 13.6 but all the YouTube Videos I see are in the 15's. has to be someone out there.

Whatever it is... it isn't going to be all that impressive.
This bike is underpowered.

RideApart reported a 14.3 sec 1/4 mile. A 13.6 is pretty good...better than I expect - low 14's sounds about right to me.

The 15s YouTube clips might be mine, I went out a few weeks after picking mine up.

Original thread here

Anyways, since then I've learnt a bit better clutch control for launch, but haven't made it back out yet. Planning on going again in the next week or 2.

Still weighing in at 110-115kgs, so keep in mind that with a slimer rider it should be a decent bit quicker...

You've got a real downer on this bike SandMantis!

Really, what were you expecting? Some people would consider a CBR600RR underpowered but it has double the power of the 500 and less weight.

The figures were well known beforehand so we all knew what it would be like. I've had a CBR600F and VFR800Fi and going to the 500 not long after having much more power isn't disappointing me. In fact I'm sometimes quite suprised how well it does go.

The bike is still quick enough to have a lot of fun on and will do almost double your US 55mph normal speed limit and half again the 70mph(?) freeway limit.

A 14sec 1/4 mile is pretty good comparing it to a car so you should be quicker than most cars on the road.

1/4 times? Maybe 13, maybe 14, maybe 15 - who cares?

Speed and acceleration is not what this bike is about.

people compare litter bikes to each other is pointless as comparing the 500r to the 600rr

I consider 1/4 inch chicken strips more of a sign of skill than low 1/4 mile times!

I am very interested in knowing what it is capable of. I have seen videos on youtube of 0-60 in 5.23 seconds. I know it is all up to the launch.
