Some things, like love and substance abuse, everybody has to learn for themselves, the hard way. The wise man says, 'the only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history,' but if you’re smart you can save yourself a little pain by listening to the wisdom of the ancients. Here are 10 of my pearls.
1. Wear a helmet.
2. Drivers tend to not see bikers.
3. Bald tires ≠ Racing Slicks
4. You're not a pro, same bike as a pro ≠ same skill as a pro
5. Gloves are second most important piece of gear.
6. Rain gear isn't for just for pussies
7. Have secondary mode of transportation.
8. Wire routing is important, do it correctly.
9. Sometimes a bigger breaker bar isn't needed. Try lube, heat, etc..
10. Have a good set of tools. Hex/Allen keys are usually the most needed.
Low speed tight turning, lean toward the outside of the turn, never to the inside of the turn.
Also the back brake is your friend at lower speeds, front brake can knock you out of balance.
